I think he always did like her, more so in this life than the past. The spirit power thing is a necessity for him, so it feels like killing two birds with one stone?.But Dorothy has matured beautifully in this lifetime. She's realised that what she felt for him was not true love but simply her clinging onto the one person who showed her an ounce of kindness in the past and obsessing over him. I hope she slowly realises Ethan's feelings are true love and that she comes to love him too!.Side note, I hope all Theon is planning to confess is the dark spirit issue and not his love for/interest in Dorothea- Like doesn't he have a fiance already??
