I know why he divorce her.
Because of he marry she will be assassinated.
He wanted to protect her so he gave up his love for her. That’s why. You should forgive him. He actually likes her so much.

I really don’t like when stories use this kind of plot. What he’s doing right now (and what the writer is doing to the reader) is manipulative, because it puts her the victim in the position of feeling guilty for holding on to her negative feelings (and the reader gets annoyed at her too for treating him as she does even though he’s so nice).
He did something horrible to her and he regrets it and he’s going through hell for her, so she should forgive him? But that doesn’t justify what he did in the past. It doesn’t show that he won’t do it again once he’s regained her trust.
He has yet to acknowledge what he did to her, to ask for forgiveness, or even explain why he acted the way he did, or why he won’t do so again. This means he might have missed her and regrets losing her, but he doesn’t regret what he did (most likely because it protected her from bad things) it also means that if a similar situation comes along he’ll act the same again. Being a tragic hero might be admirable, but it doesn’t spare him from the responsibility of breaking their relationship and a part of her own self worth in the first place.
She can forgive him for what he did because he’s clearly trying to be better to her but she shouldn’t get back with him until he admits that he should have done things differently and that in the future he will work with her to find a solution instead of making the choices on his own.
Well consider that he was the king, and the father of his wife was planning to kill him. You dont know for sure that shes not involved, what do you do? You certainly dont tell her that you know, or why youre divorcing. You see what she does afterwards. Id do nothing different in his shoes. He either would find out she was involved, or not and explain everything once it was safe to do so. At this point telling her directly still might not be an option.
I get where youre coming from but think about it not just as a relationship, but as a relationship with one of the people being the most important life in the country.
I’m not saying he didn’t have a good reason to break it off with her the way he did denpunart. I’m sure it will eventually be explained to us in a very neat little way that explains everything. I’m blaming him for trying to build up a relationship with her and expecting it to work before he’s able or willing to explain everything. If he couldn’t trust her for sure (or even if he did but he didn’t want to force her to chose between him and her father, or he didn’t want her father to use his love for her against him…) then he should leave her the hell alone and only try to rekindle things once he can properly explain. Right now he’s using an excuse to spend as much time with her as he can and by his own admission he refused to let her send her son and grandfather away because that means she will eventually leave him to join them.
If he’s honorable enough to reject her for her own good, he should be honorable enough to stay away from her until he’s sorted his problems out.
Exactly what I thought this kind of plot is really good but in another way so hard to understand because the way the author wrote it makes it hard for the reader to understand the character it is really manipulative 😭😭😭
I dont think he ever rejected her. Her father was trying to kill him, he didnt know if she was involved or not, and even if he did needed a way to keep her out of harms way without revealing or hinting to any eyes or ears in the palace that he knew. By divorcing her he both got rid of that risk and any eyes/ears that came with her in the form of servants when she moved into the palace.
Agreed, i think so too
It’s not good just to blame his wrong doing in the past, he did it for a reason, and trust me later when the time comes he’ll tell FL why he did all that, they’re not at fault in their own way
That’s what I expect will turn out to be the truth. But how is that not a rejection? He married her and then divorced her the next day after spending the night with her, without an explanation. That’s a brutal and very public rejection considering their positions.
I absolutely believe that he did so because he wanted to protect her and he didn’t want anyone to use or threaten her in the political struggle. I also believe that he was that brutal because he wanted to make sure everyone believed he hated her so that it would never occur to them to use her later and bring her back into the danger zone. So he loves her, and he had good reasons, but he did reject her. I honestly agree with you on his reasoning, I just don’t understand what your definition of rejection is if it isn’t what he did?

That could be true, but I don’t understand why he would sleep with her just to divorce her the next day. It was a stupid move on his part.

Ooh i didn’t saw things in this angle but you are right, i think se should wait to see the reason why he divorced her before judging too quickly 🤷🏾♀️
