    I don't think in this kind of semi-historical setting they'd get a cent for exposing him, because the husband's family would probably have enough money and connections to cover it up and shush people whether they tried reporting it or blackmailing them for money. On the contrary, the husband's family has enough power to counter attack and make her family pay for trying to speak up...
